Interest Groups

          An Interest Group is an organized group of people that make policy related appeals to the government. Interest Groups can support the environment, gay rights, and healthcare etc. Some examples of interest Groups are NRA, NAACP, and AARP. The purpose of an Interest Group is to help persuade politicians to make or create certain decisions. An interest group can invest in certain individuals (politicians) to then in the future bring up proposals to influence certain parties and their outcomes. Some pros and cons of an interest group with a democracy are, they can persuade government officials to shape what they believe in. A con is that they have one fixed mind, it doesn't change or adapt.

       
          The interest group, NAACP focuses mainly on achieving equal rights for all and to eliminate race prejudice among citizens. That is their mission. From this view, you can see how the NAACP is far left on the Liberal side. From the text, the NAACP states," To ensure the political, education, social, and economic equality of all citizens" therefore, showing us their political views. The Liberal side has always been more for equality rather than the far right, conservative. The NAACP has a Liberal Bias.

          The purpose of this excerpt from the NAACP official website it to broaden their views and to broaden their audience. To expose their mission to all people no matter where they are coming from.

          I think an obvious bias from this mission is there primary need to help more people of color rather than all races. The NAACP is trying to convey their mission in the best way for a certain audience. Throughout the presentation of there mission, the author presents the rhetorical device pathos. They connect with the audience by showing certain discriminations and then showing a solution, connecting to the audience through similar experiences and emotional connections.

          A limitation to there view is they do not know all of the negative experiences people have experienced, as well as there bais, has always been for people of color. The NAACP was at first not for all equal right no matter the race. They don't know the entirety of the issue, although the issue is so broad it can be difficult to understand the wholesome aspect of it which may have been a reason to having this certain bias. The biggest cultural influence the NAACP has is on primarily African American people. The organization was created to ensure safety and rights for those of color, however, recently the NAACP has adapted their mission to equality for all races which dissembles there original limitation.
